Get over your fears

Picture of my son Jayden being scared of the animals.

I’ve met a lot of entrepreneurs who are worried about their start-up’s trajectory, worried about their product being better than a competitor’s; worst of all are the folks who are afraid that if they talk about their big idea, someone will steal it from them.

Don’t become one of these people because it will ruin your business and it might also ruin you.

Fear might be a good motivator initially, but it always fails to deliver long-term motivation for you or your start-up.

That’s because fear is like wild-fire–once a small flame ignites, it’s pretty hard to contain.

It’s a phenomenon Fred Wilson touched on while reflecting on his more than 20 years of backing entrepreneurs.

Fear isn’t good for you or your startup.

We all give into some fearful behavior from time to time, but strive to build your business around guiding principles that will inspire you and motivate your team.

Try not to worry about what the future holds because in the end, every passing moment is an opportunity to create your future.

If you fill those moments with fear, you reap what you’ve sown.
